Monday marks 16 years since the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

On September 11th, 2001, terrorists hijacked four passenger plans, crashing two into New York’s World Trade Center, a third striking the Pentagon and the last crashed into an empty field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania after heroes aboard the flight tried to take back control of that plane.

Almost 3,000 people were killed that day.

A remembrance ceremony will be held at the 9/11 Memorial Museum in New York.

President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence are expected to lead separate ceremonies as well.
