Are You Ready for Some Football? Powder Puff Football Set to Kickoff with NCPD
NORTH CHARLESTON, SC [PRESS RELEASE] – The 3rd annual North Charleston Police Department Powderpuff League will kick off Tuesday, September 5th, 6 pm at Ft. Dorchester High Football Stadium with the Lady Waves of Summerville HS taking on the Lady Foxes of Ashley Ridge HS in game one, followed by the Lady Hawks of Hanahan and the Lady Patriots of Ft. Dorchester HS in game two. The 2017 league features eight teams from Charleston, Berkeley, and Dorchester county schools with a combined total of 240 participants. The schools include: Military Magnet, Garrett Academy of Technology, North Charleston High, Stall High, Ft. Dorchester High, Hanahan High, Ashley Ridge, and Summeville High. There is no cost of admission at any of the games.
The Powder Puff League is another initiative sponsored by the Police and Recreation Department in conjunction with the Police’s Cops Athletic Program (C.A.P.). Teams are coached by NCPD Officers, with the assistance of teachers from each school. PFC Angel Wilcome C.A.P. program coordinator says, “After years of coaching a team, I’m excited in my new role as the program coordinator. I now get to work with all of the participants and develop new relationships.” She goes on to say, “The players are very competitive and want to represent their school. Even though there can only be one champion, they all are working hard to bring the trophy home to their school.”
