Authorities Found 4-year-old Living with Pig, Drugs in Filthy Home
UNION COUNTY, SC (WTAT-TV) — Authorities were called to a home in Union County to assist EMS workers with a combative patient.
That is where they say a 4-year-old was found living in a filthy home with drug paraphernalia and marijuana.
A search of the home revealed a pig, covered in filth, in a bathroom – the only room with running water.
In one room, police say they found a floor completely covered in feces and urine, which they believe belonged to a large dog who was seen running loose.
Inside the kitchen, officers say mold was found growing inside the refrigerator, which also contained several open beer bottles.
Moldy food was discovered in the cabinets, surrounded by mice droppings.
The child’s mother, 25-year-old Hannah Marie Hvolbool, was arrested and charged with unlawful neglect.
The 4-year-old, who was found running around outside without socks or shoes in cold November temperatures, was placed in emergency protective custody with the Department of Social Services.
