BCSD Holding Job Fair to Fill 90 Teaching Positions
BERKELEY COUNTY, SC (BRODIE HART, WTAT-TV) — Hang on there, parents, you’re almost there! The start of the school year is now less than 6-weeks away.
That means school districts are looking for teachers to fill a variety of positions for the 2018-19 school year. They will be hosting a job fair this week.
We spoke with a former Berkeley County ‘Teacher of the Year’ and it turns out he actually got his start in the district through one of these very teacher job fairs.
The district typically hosts these job fairs every spring, Hundreds of teachers show up for these fairs each year, so they felt the need to add another over the summer.
Berkeley County School District officials say pre-registration numbers show more than 150 people plan to show up to this teacher recruitment fair.
The former ‘Teacher of the Year’ who we spoke with said he is not surprised by that. He says these teacher fairs do make a hard job a little bit easier.
“It can be kind of a daunting task to know where to begin and how to reach out to all of those principals,” said Nick Snyder. “These recruitment fairs offer a one-stop-shop where every school is represented.”
District officials say there are 90 teaching positions available, so those attending should expect job interviews to happen right on the spot.
Be sure to dress professionally if you plan on going.
The teacher recruitment fair is happening at the Menriv Educational Park in Goose Creek from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
