Although Carroll Heyward is from Columbia, South Carolina, every chance he gets he slides into his waders and hikes to the creeks of North Carolina to go trout fishing.

“I am so thankful everyday that I can do this. I don’t always catch fish unfortunately, but, I do enjoy doing it.”

Two years ago Carroll had to put his love for fishing on hold. Debilitating back pain was making it impossible for him to even walk.

“I couldn’t walk 100-yards,” he says. “We could go to a party and the first thing I would do is look for a chair. My issue was pain from the pinched nerves in my back.”

Carroll was battling a severe case of adult scoliosis .

Find out how doctors at the Southeastern Spine Institute were able to help Carroll correct his spinal condition and get him back out on the creek doing just what he loves.
