CHARLESTON, SC (WTAT-TV & HEALTH FIRST) — Here comes Spring and Summer! With the warmer weather, people of all ages begin to participate in outdoor activities like tennis, golf, baseball, softball, and swimming. While these activities are great exercise, they involve a lot of repetitive arm and shoulder motion. Summer projects like painting, yard work, and gardening can also lead to the development of common shoulder conditions.

During these active months, we see an increase of injuries related to these activities. Keep in mind, many injuries can be prevented if the symptoms are recognized early. Effective treatments can correct the problem quickly so you can get back out and enjoy the summer! One of our goals at Healthfirst is to help put your health first!

If you’re sore we recommend a treatment plan that includes rest, ice, Acetaminophen or Ibuprofen. Regular stretching might be helpful also. If you sustain a serious injury please come to Health First right away. We have x-ray machines in all 4 offices and can get you taken care of quickly!
