Charleston County at OPCON 1, Shelter Opening in North Charleston

UPDATE 4:30pm: Charleston County will open a second shelter at 3841 Leeds Avenue (corner of Bridge View Drive) at 5:30 p.m. – No pets allowed.

CHARLESTON, SC (WTAT-TV) — Charleston County emergency officials announned the county’s emergency operations center is now activated at the highest level, OPCON 1.

For those in low-lying or flood prone areas, a shelter will open at 3765 Leeds Avenue beginning at 1:00pm Sunday. This will be a pet-friendly shelter, but please bring all supplies for you and your pets.

If you need transportation to that shelter, look for the blue hurricane evacuation bus stop sign in your area. Buses will pick you up and transfer you to that shelter between 1:00pm and 8:00pm Sunday.
