Couple Accused of Killing, Dismembering South Carolina Teen
LANCASTER, SC (WTAT-TV) — A North Carolina couple has been arrested in connection to the death and dismemberment of a South Carolina teenager.
According to the Associated Press, investigators say they found the torso of 18-year-old Austin Steele on a man’s property in Lancaster County after receiving a tip about a potential murder.
A skull was also found nearby and bones from his limbs were reportedly found burned inside a barrel.
Officials believe 30-year-old Christopher Holford shot and then dismembered Steel’s body with the help of his wife, 19-year-old Brandy Duncan.
A motive for the killing remains unclear, but Holford reportedly told investigators he shot Steele in the neck about four weeks ago and said the 18-year-old survived until the morning.
Holford has been charged with murder. His wife, Brandy Duncan, is charged with accessory after the fact for helping dismember the body. Both suspects remain in jail.
