Crosstowne Christian Church is Still Under Water
WEST ASHLEY, SC (WTAT-TV) — Standing water caused by tropical storm Irma was still surrounding several neighborhoods off Bees Ferry Road in West Ashley on Tuesday.
Leaders with Crosstowne Christian Church say their building was hit hard once again with eight inches of water inside.
Pastor Paul Rienzo said they will have to rip up everything inside and start over. He says the church is now looking to make improvements so that they do not have to move.
“We’re looking at some plans,” he said. “The Mayor was here this morning, we talked, and one of the plans we are considering is raising the interior of the building 4-to-5 feet. We are in contact with some engineers on that.”
Right now, they are looking for an alternative site for services while they wait for renovation and repairs to begin.
The church was first flooded during the thousand-year flood back in October of 2015 and again during Hurricane Matthew in October of 2016.
