CHARLESTON, SC (WTAT-TV) — Restaurant chain Denny’s says it has pledged to donate $200,000 to the International African American Museum right here in the Lowcountry.

The generous offer places the museum one-step closer to its goal of $75,000,000.

Denny’s President and CEO, John Miller, says it is an honor to support an institution like IAAM that celebrates diversity in America.

Brenda Lauderback, Chair of Denny’s Board of Directors, and her husband, Dr. Boyd Wright also personally donated $75,000 to the Founder’s Fund.

That investment will be recognized in the East Boardwalk which will serve as an entrance to the African Ancestors Memorial Garden.

Crews are expected to break ground on the historic museum this summer.
