CHARLESTON, SC (WTAT-TV) — A carriage horse with Palmetto Carriage Works fell Tuesday morning after slipping on black ice.

The incident happened around 10:45 a.m. on Market Street in downtown Charleston.

“Abbapoola slipped on ice this morning. He walked back to the Big Red Barn and is doing very well,” said Victoria Moore, spokesperson for Palmetto Carriage Works. “We are taking all proper precautions. Abbapoola has been looked over by a veterinarian and has received a clean bill of health.”

Following the accident, the horse, Abbapoola, remained on the ground until staff arrived to unharness and help him up from the ice.

“We are committed to the safety and care of our animals and will ensure that Abbapoola is feeling 100% before he returns back to work,” said Moore said in a press release.

Thankfully, no passengers reported injuries.
