Family Working to Repair Home on Sullivan’s Island
SULLIVAN’S ISLAND, SC (WTAT-TV) — People have started to patch things up on Sullivan’s Island after Hurricane Irma ripped through the area Monday.
Irma’s impact on the island came into focus on Tuesday – that’s where the Garner family spent the day repairing a home built back in the 70’s, affectionately known as the ‘octagon house.’
We’re not sure if it was a waterspout that jumped the land, cause they do that,” said Mary Chris Luebchow.
Luebchow says the house has survived several hurricanes and she’s optimistic about the repair effort.
“I don’t think it’s going to be that bad, really. My grandfather built it so the roof doesn’t really come off. It’s got patches in it where the shingles came off, so we had to put the tarp over everything.”
