Goose Creek Police Arrest 7 After Series of Car Break-ins
GOOSE CREEK, SC (WTAT-TV) — A series of car break-ins has landed several people behind bars.
Police in Goose Creek said they arrested five adults and two minors after receiving reports of illegal activity over the weekend.
Investigators say the crimes happened Saturday along Greywood Lane and Clayburne Drive in Liberty Hall and again on Sunday along Edmund Road and Hastie Drive in Greenview Acres.
Those arrested include Keymern Butler, Grant Marshall, Anthony Pinckney, Brandon Rivers, Jordan Walker along with a 15-year-old and 16-year-old.
The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office now wants to remind everyone to make sure you lock your homes and cars.
“If they get in there and they steal something highly valuable or they steal firearms, it adds to it, but as a general rule it’s not a very highly punished crime, unfortunately,” said Chief Deputy Mike Cochran with the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office. “The best thing that citizens can do is be more vigilant about what they leave in their car and make sure that car is locked.”
Cochran says vehicle break-ins are more likely in neighborhoods than in busy parking lots or shopping centers.
He says you should always make sure to put valuables out of plain sight if you are choosing to it in your car.
