BERKELEY COUNTY, SC (WTAT-TV) — With the increasing possibility of snowfall and icy road conditions in the area on Wednesday, Berkeley County has announced all county offices will be closed due to the threat of hazardous road conditions.

The county’s Emergency Preparedness Department will also move to OPCON level 4 beginning at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday. This operating condition means there is the possibility of an emergency or disaster situation which may require full or partial activation of the Emergency Operations Center.

Meanwhile, crews will begin sanding roads and bridges Wednesday morning in preparation for the winter weather. “Berkeley County maintains the following bridges: Westview Boulevard, Centennial Boulevard, Rose Drive, Discovery Drive and Green Bay Road. SCDOT will be handling their bridges,” said Hannah Moldenhauer the county’s public information officer.

Berkeley County courts will also contact all individuals who have court cases scheduled for Wednesday. These appointments will be rescheduled.

The county will also have warming shelters open for your comfort. For more information about these, please click here.
