Man Charged With Murder Following Cane Bay Shooting
SUMMERVILLE, SC (BRODIE HART, WTAT-TV) — A Summerville man has been charged with shooting and killing a man inside a home in the Cane Bay community.
The incident happened on April 8th at the suspect’s home on Decatur Drive — that’s when police say Wade Williamson shot Liam Vernon, both 35, several times.
Following an investigation, a warrant for Williamson’s arrest was made and he later turned himself into police.
Williamson was booked at the Hill-Finklea Detention Center where he was expected to appear in general session court early Monday morning.
The investigation also revealed that Williamson and Vernon both knew each other prior to the shooting.
We are told the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating exactly what happened in those moments before the deadly shooting.
At this point, a motive for the shooting remains unclear.
Deputies say Williamson is also being charged with possession of a weapon during a violent crime — it’s the only charge what will be addressed Monday in court.
We are told that is because a circuit judge is needed in order to set bond for a murder charge.
