Man Killed During High Speed Chase Through Pineville
BERKELEY COUNTY, SC (WTAT-TV) — One person is dead and another in custody following a high-speed chase through Berkeley County.
Officials say the incident happened Sunday night near Matilda Circle in Pineville.
When officers attempted to stop the car for a traffic violation, but the driver simply took off.
The vehicle eventually hit another car.
Officials say the driver, 37-year-old Latrrio Singleton of Cross, was thrown out of the vehicle and died at the scene.
The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office says Tyrone Jones was a passenger in the car involved in that police chase.
During a search of the vehicle, officers found what looked to be cocaine and open cans of beer.
Jones only suffered minor injuries and was taken to the Hill Finklea Detention Center where he faces a cocaine trafficking charge.
The driver of the other vehicle is said to be okay.
