CHARLESTON, SC (BRODIE HART, WTAT-TV) — Strap in for a unique experience! The Marine Corps have brought their newest training tool to town.

Marine recruiters have set up an F-18 flight and an attack helicopter simulator down at The Citadel where area college students will be able to take part.

The flight simulator does differ from an actual training simulator. “This is more of a recruiting tool to show someone the basic information or basic feeling of that concept to fly,” explained Capt. Nicholas Fowler. “The actual simulator itself, you’d be fully encapsulated with a lot more going on with the controls. But really, this is just to give you a basic taste of that flight.”

The simulator which is on display at The Citadel costs about $45,000. “They did want to make it pretty realistic so that way they are giving everyone that good experience — ‘hey, is flying an option for me?'”

College students in the Charleston area are invited to come try the simulator between 8:00 a.m and 3:00 p.m.
