Marine Veteran Loses Hand After Multiple Surgeries Due to Combat
CHARLESTON, SC (WTAT-TV) – Former Marine, Dustin Bowen’s left hand was crushed during an explosion in the Middle East while in combat in 2007.
Bowen did not let this stop him from serving in the Marines years after the incident even though his hand was in constant pain.
After fourteen surgeries, he was forced to have his hand amputated.
Being a true warrior, he continues his battle with relearning how to do basically everything (previously left handed) with his right hand.
“There is no room to stop because if I stop, then all my guys that died over there and everyone who has died over there… you are not doing them justice… you need to live for them,” Bowen stated.
After living with one hand for thirteen years, he now has a prosthetic. Dustin recently received his CDL license and plans to become a truck driver.
