Motorcyclist Falls 75-Feet Over I-26 Barrier, Transported to MUSC
CHARLESTON, SC (WTAT-TV) — Charleston Police responded to an accident on I-26 early Friday morning involving a motorcycle.
The accident happened on I-26 westbound near the Cypress Street overpass around 2:45 a.m.
Upon arrival, officers say they located a motorcycle on its side and had been damaged against the retaining wall in the third lane.
No driver was present at the scene.
Police began searching the area and discovered the driver was ejected over the wall, falling about 75-feet below.
Office Charles Francis with the Charleston Police Department said in an email the driver landed within a fenced-in area of the Parks Department at 823 Meeting Street.
First responders with the Charleston Fire Department cut the gate lock in order to enter the area and get to the driver.
We are told the driver was conscious and transported to MUSC with non-life threatening injuries.
