New ‘Halloween’ Installment to be Filmed in Charleston
CHARLESTON, SC (WTAT-TV) — Halloween is coming to Charleston and it’s more than just the October 31st holiday.
The filmmakers behind the 2018 edition of the classic horror movie, ‘Halloween,’ have confirmed the movie will be filmed right here in the Lowcountry.
Original scream queen, Jamie Lee Curtis, is expected to reprise her iconic role as Laurie Strode.

The remake was co-written by Danny McBride who stars in HBO’s ‘Vice Principals,’ which was also filmed here in the Lowcountry.
David Gordon Green will be directing the new Halloween and the film’s original director, John Carpenter will executive produce. It is also rumored that he will compose the score for the movie.
In an interview with Filmmaker Magazine, Green said “We start shooting in six weeks in Charleston. I can’t say too much more as we are trying to keep things tight right now, but we are doing something unique. John Carpenter is involved as well, which is like a dream to me. The two films I couldn’t watch growing up were Halloween and Revenge of the Nerds, so I can’t wait to invite my parents to this one.”
October 2018 will mark the 40th anniversary of the original Halloween, released in 1978.
