Clemson University’s Program to Handle On-Campus Bullying

CHARLESTON, SC (FOX 24 NEWS NOW) — Bullying in schools is inevitable and not every educator is equipped with the tools to handle these situations.

Clemson University is a national center for the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program.

The Olweus Program is a comprehensive approach that includes schoolwide, classroom, individual, and community components. A program that is focused on long-term change that creates a safe and positive school climate.

The program’s goals are to reduce and prevent bullying problems among schoolchildren and to improve peer relations at school.

We spoke with June Jenkins, a training consultation coordinator, about the program and how local educators and implement these standards in their everyday life.
