MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (FOX 24 NEWS NOW) — Since 1990, the number of people working in STEM — that’s science, technology, engineering and math — fields has grown 79 percent.

The number is eye-opening and could spur college students toward pursuing these types of degrees in school.

The Pew Research Center conducted a study earlier this year that found one-in-three workers have a STEM undergraduate degree, but only half of these folks are employed in a STEM field.

A local startup, STEM Premiere, is helping these students connect with opportunities around Charleston and elsewhere.
