Hero of the Lowcountry: Marie Morgan
CHARLESTON, SC (FOX 24 NEWS NOW) — Many of our honorees for Heroes of the Lowcountry are surprised, yet humbled by their nomination because they are being honored for doing what they love.
This month’s honoree is no exception. Today, we are honoring Marie Morgan, a lead G.E.D. Instructor at SC Works Trident, a one-stop network of centers in the tri-county area which help job seekers develop skills and find employment.
Marie has touched hundreds of lives through her motivation and mentorship over the years.
Not only do her students receive g.E.D instruction, they receive hope that their dreams don’t have to stop after they receive their diploma. Her students have more opportunity in the workforce and a new reality that they can go on to achieve a higher education.
Marie is known for being welcoming and warm as soon as you set foot in her classroom and her mantra is “nothing is impossible with positivity, determination and drive”.
“I’m so privileged to receive this,” said Marie of the special honor. “My students motivate me every day. The stories that they share, the challenges they have, each day we are one step closer to overcoming those challenges and having a success story. I also work with a great group of co-workers and my boss is compassionate, so it is just a privilege to go there every day to work and enjoy the things that I enjoy doing.”
