Hero of the Lowcountry: Officer Nathan Pitchford
CHARLESTON, SC (FOX 24) — It’s not common to see people run towards danger, but when you are a police officer that’s what you are trained to do. Our next Hero of the Lowcountry recipient is no exception.
Officer Nathan Pitchford, a former K-9 officer, is a dedicated high school resource officer at West Ashley High School.
He has used his law enforcement skills and quick decision making to pull a woman from a burning home and recently helped a truck driver who was having a stroke.
Pitchford has also received a letter of appreciation from Mayor Tecklenburg for his efforts in assisting in the arrest of a bank robbery suspect in 2017.
His community involvement does not stop there. Officer Pitchford has been a volunteer coach and a volunteer with Camp Hope, a non-profit which works with at-risk youth in the community.
He is also a hero to his family.
On behalf of FOX 24 and Wendy’s, we are proud to present Officer Nathan Pitchford with the Heroes of the Lowcountry award and thank him for his dedication to the community.
