Hero of the Lowcountry: Tyler Crowder
CHARLESTON, SC (FOX 24 NEWS NOW) – It’s no secret that the ocean has a calming, if not healing effect on a person’s soul. The warrior surf foundation combines that calm with camaraderie for veterans to promote physical and mental wellness through surfing. The effects of war can be traumatizing, but in just four years the warrior surf foundation has impacted over 400 veterans and their families.
On behalf of Wendy’s and FOX24 we’d like to congratulate Tyler Crowder with this months Heroes of the Lowcountry Award.
Crowder, is the co-founder of the Warrior Surf Foundation. He tirelessly researched how to start and initiate a non-profit, raising money through grass roots efforts to get this idea off the ground.
He also has spent his time talking to veterans and hearing stories from wounded veterans to better learn how to serve their needs.
The Warrior Surf Foundation provides surfing lessons, wellness coaching and a mental health programs to veterans in South Carolina free of charge. If that’s not enough, Tyler has spent 10 years as an army medic serving our country in four deployments. He truly is not only a Lowcountry hero, but an American hero as well.
