How Big Brothers, Big Sisters is Making an Impact on Local Youth

CHARLESTON, SC (FOX 24 NEWS NOW) — We’re highlighting an organization that has been around for more than a hundred years, an organization that provides mentoring to our country’s young folks for a brighter and better future.

We’re talking about Big Brothers, Big Sisters of America.

Their local affiliation with the Carolina Youth Development Center has been matching hundreds of children from single-parent families with adult role models.

We spoke to Christina Hoffecker, the program director for Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Carolina Youth Development Center about the local program and how you can get involved.

We also sat down with Michael Beville, a Big Brother mentor and his mentee, Edward Myatt about how the program affected their lives, how they became involved, and what the program means for their future.
