How ‘Lowcountry Go’ Can Improve Your Commute and Quality of Life
CHARLESTON, SC (FOX 24 NEWS NOW) — An increase in traffic across the tri-county area wasn’t helped by the temporary closure of the Wando Bridge in recent weeks.
But, here we are, back to “normal,” still sitting in gridlock as nearly a thousand new residents begin calling the Lowcountry home month after month.
Apps like Waze and Inrix help millions of drivers across the globe, but a new app tailored specifically for Lowcountry commuters encompasses more than travel times and alternate routes.
‘Lowcountry Go‘ is a regional partnership of the Berkeley-Charleston-Dorchester Council of Governments that focuses on reducing traffic congestion and improving quality of life for our area.
According to its website, ‘Lowcountry Go’ connects real people with real solutions and supports carpools, public transit, walking, biking, and many other programs that encourage behavior changes among commuters.
Vonie Gilreath, mobility manager for Berkeley-Charleston-Dorchester Council of Governments stopped by FOX 24 News Now to talk about the program and its initiatives.
