Is Over-Development Posing a Threat to the Quality of Life on James Island?
JAMES ISLAND, SC (WTAT-TV) — James Island and it’s urban sea island vibe has been attracting more and more people to move there. Its proximity to downtown Charleston and various waterways makes it particularly desirable.
But, a recent boom is making people who live there feel claustrophobic.
One major headache: the traffic and the painful delay in completing the 526 connection. While expansion is good it does pose a whole world of problems.
We wanted to reach out to residents to hear their side of the story. Carolyn Sotka is a resident of James Island and a professor at the College of Charleston who expressed concern for the growing population and the negative impact development on the rapidly growing island is having on the land around them.
