Join A Local Foundation’s Fight to Keep Our Waterways Clean
CHARLESTON, SC (FOX 24 NEWS NOW) — A study was conducted by the University of Georgia in 2015 that revealed an estimated 8 million metric tons of plastic end up in the ocean each year.
Unfortunately, that same waste has entered our region at an alarming rate.
From the glittering sands of Isle of Palms to the rolling waves of Charleston harbor, the Lowcountry is home to a delicate ecosystem that deserves all our care.
The Surfrider Foundation Charleston Chapter is one of many organizations working to protect our aquatic gems.
You can help with their mission tomorrow during the ‘Love Your Ocean’ FUNdraiser silent auction. The event will kick off at 6:00 p.m. on February 8th and runs until 10:00 p.m at Redux Art Studios.
There will be love music by Zoe Child and tasty brews and cocktails.
