Local Nonprofit Organization Empowers Disadvantaged Children to Overcome Speaking Disorders

CHARLESTON, SC (FOX 24 NEWS NOW) – Imagine trying to engage in a simple conversation and not being able to communicate clearly because of a speaking disorder.

One of the most common of these is stuttering.

The National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders says stuttering is most common in children between the ages of two and six and will affect 5 to 10 percent of all children at some point in their life.

Sherrikka Myers, founder of the new nonprofit Every 1 Voice Matters, joined us in-studio to tell us how her speaking disorder effected her and about her amazing organization
