Lofty Plan Aims to Protect Tri County Cyclists, Pedestrians
CHARLESTON, SC (FOX 24 NEWS NOW) — South Carolina is home to some of the best car manufacturers in the world, BMW, Mercedes Benz, and soon, Volvo.
The state falls somewhere near the middle in this country when it comes to car ownership at approximately 850 cars for every 1,000 people.
To get around the Lowcountry without a car is extremely difficult. We have mass transit in the form of CARTA buses, however, routes and frequency is quite limited.
Most of the people who ride CARTA are considered “captive riders” because they have no other choice.
But, there are folks who are trying to change this by creating a plan that will give commuters another choice to get around the tri-county area.
