CHARLESTON, SC (FOX 24 NEWS NOW) — Charleston is a city world-known for its rich history in food, culture, and art.

Marcus Amaker knows Charleston very well and has used his gift of art to share the beauty of the Lowcountry.

With three to four months in the making, Marcus is presenting his empathetic work of music to Charleston through ‘Telemaque’ — one of his latest albums.

While there is much beauty to be expressed, the Holy City has faced many trials and tribulations.

Marcus uses some of Charleston’s hardships and heartaches, such as the tragedy of Mother Emanuel AME Church, as inspiration in his passionate literature.

His passion for poetry began when Marcus was young and he continues to vibrantly present images of history with words and music.

Marcus states in regards to the artistic expression of real history and storytelling, “One part doesn’t really work without the whole. It’s hard to take anything out of context, which I think is true for any kind of story — any complete work.”
