Meet Dori and Coral! Two Little Buddies Looking for a Forever Home
CHARLESTON, SC (FOX 24 NEWS NOW) — Puppies and kitties are everyone’s favorite, but pets of all shapes, sizes and species need loving homes, too.
Among them are a pair of rats, Dori and Coral! “Their moms were two of over 80 animals we received from thousands that were neglected and left in horrible conditions,” said Kay Hyman with the Charleston Animal Society. “They were adopted by a good friend of mine, a lover of animals, and both moms gave birth within a week.”
With that came 11 baby rats and all of them are in need of warm and loving homes. “(The family) who love them dearly, adopted the rats for their daughter’s birthday and held them everyday. So these guys are really social and loving.”
A lot of misconceptions about rats is that people think they are unclean or do not make good pets. But Hyman says they make excellent pets. “We have these two at the shelter right now.”
She also mentioned the shelter has bunnies that come in and many other animals besides dogs and cats.
Right now the Charleston Animal Society is offering waived fees for all animal adoptions.
