National Chiropractic Organization Works to Curb Opioid Use in Expectant Mothers
CHARLESTON, SC (FOX 24 NEWS NOW) – It’s a statistic that brings the current state of the nation’s opioid crisis to a sobering reality.
In 2018, the National Institute on Drug Abuse reported more than 115 Americans die after overdosing on opioids every day .
Surprisingly, pregnant women are one of the largest demographics suffering from the effects of this epidemic. In 2016, Science Daily released a study revealing 22 percent of expectant mothers are prescribed opioids during their pregnancy.
One of the nation’s leading chiropractic organizations, Healthsource, is working to combat this crisis and offer a better alternative.
