New Program Aims to Make Your Downtown Commute Easier
CHARLESTON, SC (FOX 24 NEWS NOW) — The Holy City is home to hundreds of delicious restaurants, world-class hotels and must-see attractions.
But who keeps them running? Thousands of hospitality workers.
The College of Charleston’s Office of Tourism Analysis conducted a survey last year that shows about 60-percent of downtown Charleston employees live outside the area.
That means these folks drove their cars to work and have had to grapple with downtown parking.
But access and staggering parking costs have been making life unnecessarily difficult.
CARTA is launching a new program called ‘HOP’ on April 15th which could help our hospitality employees a great deal with parking costs and commute.
We spoke with CARTA board chairman and Charleston City Councilman, Mike Seekings about the new project and how you can participate.
