CHARLESTON, SC (FOX 24 NEWS NOW) — The Sertoma Football Classic has 47 years in the sports books and it’s still going strong.

Brad Davis with the Hendrick Automotive group — the chief sponsor of the event — shares on what to expect from this fun annual event.

The Sertoma Football Classic is the official kickoff for the Lowcountry high school football season. High school students from the Tri-County area gather to showcase their schools’ talent both on and and off the fooltball field.

Last year, proceeds from the Sertoma Classic allowed the Sertoma Club of Charleston to award $90,000 to local charities and high schools that participated in the event. Charities receiving financial awards were chosen by the Sertoma Club of Charleston, because they serve children and families throughout the Tri-County area.

VIP viewing tickets are on sale for $50 per person. Viewing tickets will allow access to upper club seats, food, and drinks.

The event will be held August 10-11 at Johnson Hagood Stadium.

Gates open at 4 p.m., kickoff is at 5 p.m., and the fun will last all through the event.
