CHARLESTON, SC (FOX 24 NEWS NOW)- The holidays are in full swing here in the Lowcountry. Yesterday marked the first day of Hanukkah!

Dr. Joshua Shanes, associate director of Jewish studies at the College of Charleston, joined us in-studio to share everything you need to know about the eight-day festival of lights, from traditions to upcoming events.

Chanukah in the Square Event Details:
– Sunday, December 9
– Center for Jewish Life, 477 Mathis Ferry Rd., Mount Pleasant
– 4:00 P.M. – 6:00 P.M.
– Free and open to the public
– Will feature lighting of the Menorah
– Guest speakers include Mayor John Tecklenburg, Congressman Mark Sanford and Congressman-elect Joe Cunningham
