Charleston’s Ultimate Skate Park Provides a Load of Fun and Freestyles
CHARLESTON, SC (FOX 24 NEWS NOW) — What’s up, Charleston’s extreme adventurers and skaters!
Josh McFadden, manager of SK8 Charleston, and Sarah Reynolds from Charleston County’s Park and Recreation Commission talks about the fun offered at this amazing skate park.
This new park faced a lot of designing challenges before its opening on March 3, 2017. Despite the prior frustrations, SK8 Charleston was recently named Project of the Year of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) South Carolina section.
Some of the park’s features include an 11.5-foot-deep pro bowl, 7-foot-deep mini-bowl, 200-foot-long snake course and a 315-foot-long street course.
SK8 Charleston is also handicapped-accessible and has a raised building with a large viewing deck overlooking all the action. There is a small skate shop, food and drink concessions, restrooms, and covered and uncovered seating.
