CHARLESTON, SC (FOX 24 NEWS NOW) — There are more than 395-thousand small businesses in South Carolina.

Despite big box retailers, it’s been proven that small businesses have consistently played a major role in our country’s economic growth.

It provides the most jobs, discretionary income, and tax income for local governments.

However, following the growth spurt of those mega-retailers, the ‘buy local’ movement has been gaining steam once again, and the Lowcountry’s champion of ‘buy local’ is receiving national recognition.

We’re happy to welcome back Jordan Amaker, director of marketing and communication for Lowcountry Local First and Larry Downey, the organization’s community manager to learn more.
