Steeplechase of Charleston Back for Another Exciting Year
HOLLYWOOD, SC (FOX 24 NEWS NOW) – We’re off to the races! It’s time to dust off those beautiful, bodacious bow ties and handsome hats because Steeplechase of Charleston is just days away.
Steeplechase dates back to the 1700s, when it began in Charleston with Washington Race Week. The original race featured a one-mile loop around today’s Hampton Park.
Toby Edwards, race director, and Austin Walker, executive director and CEO of The Randolph Company, joined us in-studio to talk what attendees can expect.
This year’s race will have a huge purse: $100,000 in prize money and titles are up for grabs.
All proceeds will benefit Cradle to Career Collaborative. The nonprofit is working to improve education and job opportunities for students throughout the Tri-County Area.
Steeplechase of Charleston Details:
– Saturday, November 11
– 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
– The Racetrack at Stono Ferry
