CHARLESTON, SC (FOX 24 NEWS NOW) — You’ve heard of underwater basket-weaving, but get ready for a whole new spin on aquatic fun.

The South Carolina Aquarium is ushering in the Halloween season with a fun event involving the century-old art of pumpkin carving!

But as you know, pumpkins float! “To pull off our underwater pumpkin carving we do have to bring in a little bit of aquarium magic to get those to stay down at the bottom,” said Bethany Kelly, Public Relations Manager for the SC Aquarium. “Our volunteer divers have been doing this for years – they are great and very skilled.”

Kelly says they will be carving three pumpkins at two different dive shows in the Great Ocean Tank on Friday, October 20th and 27th at 11:00 a.m.

Additionally, the South Carolina will also be doing pumpkin themed enrichment on October 27th where you’ll be able to see pumpkins interacting with some of your favorite animals!
