Parents Celebrate Back-to-School with Trip to Disney World
ORLANDO, FL (WTAT-TV) — Sorry kids, this one is for the adults! After a long and hot summer, parents across the United States are thrilled about the start of another school year.
Meet parents Mariano Maeso and Awilda Maldonado — after dropping off their 7-year-old at her first day of 2nd grade, they did what any parents should do — they celebrated with a trip to Disney World!
The happy couple was not shy about celebrating the first day of class. They even posed for back-to-school photos with various characters and at locations across the Magic Kingdom.
“My wife and I started this tradition after we dropped off our little Mia at Kindergarten as a celebration of being without the kids for at least a couple of hours,” explained Mariano. “Basically, like a little date like when we were kids.”
A tradition that continues to live on!
The couple lives in Orlando, so the trip wasn’t far from home. They both enjoy a lot of park time with the family as Annual Pass holders.
“Thanks to this AP pass, we can download all the PhotoPass pictures for free. We love just going around and taking pictures, especially new Magic Shots,” said Mariano.
As self-confessed Disney fanatics, both say they are blessed to have found someone who shares their “Disney craziness” and have been married for almost 27-years.
Mariano and Awilda also have a 25-year-old daughter and 18-year-old son who has recently joined the Marines.
So, is a nice refreshing Dole Whip in your future? What are your plans for the first day of school?
