Prayers Answered, Missing Johns Island Child Found Safe
JOHNS ISLAND, SC (BRODIE HART, WTAT-TV) — A sigh of relief – here at home, many in the Lowcountry spent their Wednesday praying for the safe return of a 4-year-old girl and it paid off.
Dozens of people showed up to a candlelight vigil on Johns Island Wednesday evening to offer prayer and support for the Todd family, and the mood changed from sadness to joy as word began to spread about the little girl’s recovery.
During an 8:00 p.m press conference, Charleston Mayor John Tecklenburg announced Heidi Todd had been safely located in Alabama.
Now, the city of Charleston is helping the family reunite with their little girl. “We’re flying him down to Alabama and they should be reunited soon,” said Mayor Tecklenburg. “She’s safe, I’ve seen a picture of her with the FBI agent, she had a nice smile on her face and it appears that this part of the story is a very happy and joyful part of the story.”
There is no word yet on when the suspect, 37-year-old Thomas Evans, will be brought back to Charleston County. He will likely be taken to the Sheriff Al Cannon Detention Center once he is extradited.
We will continue to follow this story and let you know when that happens as well as the reunion of the Todd family.
