Rifle, Drugs Found During K9 Sweep at West Ashley High School

WEST ASHLEY, SC (WTAT-TV) — Charleston Police have arrested two students at West Ashley High School after drugs and a rifle was found inside their vehicles.

According to a press release from the department, the items were located during a K9 sweep that was requested by school officials.

The release said officers were searching the student’s parking lot when K9 Dulan “indicated on several cars” and an administrative search was performed on the vehicles.

Officers found a gram of marijuana and a rifle in one vehicle, prescription drugs and drug paraphernalia in another.

17-year-old Kyle Salter has been charged with simple possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and having a weapon on school property.

17-year-old Leslie Kahle is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance schedule I-V.

Both of the students were transported to the Al Cannon Detention Center.
