CAMBRIDGE, MASSACHUSETTS (WTAT-TV) – Uber is making it easier for riders to contact law enforcement if they feel uncomfortable.

Leaders are testing a new 9-1-1 technology in Cambridge, Massachusetts that allows riders to simply swipe something on the Uber app to share every detail of the ride with local police.

Police say that they will not only have the location information, but also the plate, make and model of the car as well as the driver’s information.

While this technology isn’t available everywhere just yet, it is recommended that you build a Smart 9-1-1 profile to better protect yourself. The Smart 9-1-1 profile shares family contacts, pet information and any medical conditions.
