UberEats Officially Launches in Charleston
CHARLESTON, SC (WTAT-TV) — UberEATS is now available in Charleston! The food delivery service brings local restaurants directly to you.
Instead of getting a ride with Uber, the Uber driver will now pick up the order and deliver it directly to your door.
It’s all done through the UberEATS app. You find a restaurant, select what you want off the menu and then place your order. The app then charges the credit card you have on file.
From start to finish it is all tracked on GPS – showing you exactly where the order is located.
So far, there are more than 70 local restaurants to choose from.
“For restaurants, it offers them an additional revenue opportunity. An opportunity to reach more customers,” said Evangeline George, UberEATS Public Affairs Manager. “For consumers, of course, it offers them a reliable way to get food delivered at the tap of a button and for driver partners, it offers them an additional earning opportunity.”
The service area extends from Folly Beach to West Ashley, up to North Charleston and into Mount Pleasant.
There is a $5 delivery fee. Anyone can download the app, but download requests can only be made if the drop-off location is in the service area.
