West Ashley Revitalization Plan Clears Hurdle
WEST ASHLEY, SC (WTAT-TV) — Charleston City Council will be moving forward with a plan to revitalize West Ashley.
Members came to a unanimous decision during a first reading of that plan on Tuesday, which includes a 343 page outline showing how the city plans to handle flooding.
Leaders tell us it is their most advanced storm water and drainage document to date and calls for new techniques to deal with drainage.
Votes who attended that council meeting also wanted to know about jobs and plans for empty buildings.
Richard Davis, a managing partner with Citadel Mall said he is ready to submit a business plan that will bring in more foot traffic and MUSC to the struggling mall.
He hopes to create more than 400 jobs.
The plan will still need to undergo two additional rounds of voting.
