CHARLESTON, SC- (WTAT-TV) – BROOKE SCHWIETERS– The Charleston Police Department voted to hire an external company to examine their policies and procedures in hopes of providing the best possible outcomes for the community. The Racial Bias Audit explored areas such as the use of force, traffic stops and field contact, and community engagement. Chief Luther Reynolds stated, “It is my vision and desire to emerge from this process even stronger than we already are, both internally and externally.” A community meeting will be held this evening at Wesley United Methodist Church to showcase the results of the audit with community members.
