Dangers of Digital Dating
CHARLESTON, SC (WTAT-TV) – In these digital days, it seems like everyone is meeting their partners online. A simple swipe can lead you to love or in some cases, danger.
Police officials have seen everything from simple assault to aggravated robberies to death.
Last month, a San Antonio woman was stabbed with a butcher knife by a man she met on the dating app, Plenty of Fish. The 47-year-old survived but suffered a serious wound to her back. Police often run into problems catching the suspects in these situations because the reports mostly include just a first name and an age range.
A few tips from police when meeting someone in person that you met online include:
– Meet in a public place
– Tell family and friends where you are
– Drive your car to meet them, so that you have a way to leave
