Human Trafficking in the Lowcountry
CHARLESTON, SC (WTAT-TV) TESSA SPENCER – Human Trafficking is a major problem across the Country and here in South Carolina. The State Human Trafficking Task Force will meet to discuss the issue. According to the Human Trafficking Institute, South Carolina convicted seventeen defendants in human trafficking cases last year, that ranks the Palmetto State fifth in the nation for number of defendants convicted. If interested or for more in-depth discussion, the task force meets Thursday from 6pm to 7:30pm at the Main Library downtown on Calhoun Street.
